Why does Airlock drain my iPhone's battery so quickly?

By default, Airlock "pings" your iPhone every 25 seconds to check whether it's still in-range. We call this delay between pings the responsiveness, and it can be adjusted in the "Advanced" tab of the preference pane.

We chose a default value of 25 seconds to give users a good feel for how Airlock works immediately after installing it. In day-to-day use, you may find that the default responsiveness is harsh on your iPhone's battery life. If this is the case, try decreasing the responsiveness to several minutes. Note that decreasing the responsiveness lengthens the delay between pings, and therefore it will take longer for Airlock to notice that you've gone out-of-range and lock the screen.

Battery life continues to be an area in which we improve Airlock. While adjusting the responsiveness gives you lots of control over Airlock's effect on battery drain, there are still tricks that we plan to implement in future versions of Airlock that will help conserve your iPhone's battery life.
