It definitely looks like there's an issue - in some cases - even with the new patch - once a registration has been applied that prevents the application from working properly. This is a seriously awesome application and it would be seriously awesome if it worked properly :).

Now, here is an odd thing. This morning, my iPhone is being found by my macMini. This is a registered copy.

Mini 2.53 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo

    OS 10.6.4

This is NOT the updated version of Airlock posted on this thread. Recently, this machine did not find my iPhone 4 (see previous posts for model/OS version). I have attached screenshots of my settings in hopes that it will give some insight.

Installed the Airlock pre pane this morning and my iphone now works fine with Airlock! Thanks for the update.

And now it's working again for me: registered copy, latest version, MBP 6,1 (core i7), iOS 4.0.1 (JB). I upgraded to 10.6.5 yesterday. I wonder if something in the upgrade did it. I wonder if David got his Bluetooth "hallelujah" from Apple? That would be great...

Well I spoke too soon. It worked once a few minutes ago: I opened the pref pane and it found my phone. I took the phone out of range which locked the screen. I brought it back in range which unlocked the screen. I got excited. And now it won't do it again. Curiously, if I leave my phone next to my MBP and I get up and walk away - the screen locks! And it doesn't unlock when I come back :). Odd, eh? Again - MBP 6,1; iOS 4.0.1.

Reporting that everything is working well on my MBPro now, as well. Have tested and now shown off ("Look how cool having a Mac and iPhone is. Oh, that's right, you don't have both...").

On my MBPro, but my mini is not. Both are working as expected.

Unfortunately, the 1.5b1 version doesn't recognize my iphone 4 (4.0.1). Mac OS is 10.6.5.

    Hi all,

Just wanted to update this discussion to clarify the issues that I believe exist:

    1. iPhone doesn't appear in device-selection sheet. This is the bug that the version of Airlock I posted earlier in this discussion should fix.

    2. Intermittently, iPhone goes undetected by Airlock and screen locks erroneously. I've been investigating this issue for awhile, and so far I've found one cause is definitely due to a bug outside of Airlock. At the moment I'm exploring a potential workaround, and if all goes as planned, it should be incorporated into one of the next releases. If you're experiencing this problem, please see this discussion.

DB, chris, and Valery: Does it sound like issue #2 is what you're experiencing? This could manifest itself as the blinking red light in the preference pane, with no dot on the radar panel.

    Thanks,

    David

    Hi Dave -

Yes issue #2 is definitely something I experience. Sometimes, with my iPhone right next to my MBP, Airlock will suddenly lock the screen. It's unclear why it happens. I haven't noticed anything specifically interesting at the time and it is something I've taken notice of but I haven't been able to pinpoint or even guess what's causing it. I'll take a look at the discussion link you referenced now.

    Thanks DB.

If you have the chance, it would be helpful if you could follow the instructions I left in the discussion I linked above (here's the link again.)

With your system log (that includes Airlock debug information), and a system configuration file (generated by System Profiler), I should be able to determine whether the problem you're experiencing is due to the bug I'm already aware of, or a different one.

Also, I would appreciate it if you could post responses into the discussion above if they pertain to the Airlock-intermittantly-loses-iPhone issue.

    Thanks,

    David

The patch helped with iPhone 4 connectivity and the app was working well, but it caused my magic mouse to become jittery/jerky until I uninstalled and restarted the computer. You're getting close!

Just downloaded, paid for, and validated the latest version of Airlock. Unfortunately, my iPhone 4 simply doesn't show up when trying to pair the Bluetooth. When I downloaded what I thought was the fix, it just crashed System Preferences.

The patch that I applied was in that zip file earlier in this iPhone 4 thread. I downloaded, unzipped it, and tried to install. However after clicking the Upgrade Airlock button, System Preferences just locks up and I have to Force Quit it.

Something has begun to fail. Have been silent, as things have been working well. In the last week, though, problems have arisen. First, every time I unlocked my machine, there were multiple dialogue notices alerting me to turn to go Bluetooth Preferences. There was nothing clear about what needed to be done. Now, I am back to the original problem state of iPhone being found for configuring, but not by the range indicator.

    :(

Where do I email my system.log?

Here is the dialogue that keeps coming up. Biggest problem I find is that if it pops up when the screen is air-locked, the presence of my phone is not identified. Not a big deal, as I can unlock it, but fails the concept of the application.

I am also attaching screenshots of my preference settings.

I am having the same issue. MBP, i7, OS 10.6.5, iOS 4.2.1.

Chris: I believe the hang you experienced when attempting to upgrade Airlock is due to a bug triggered by having many applications running. Please try quitting all running applications before attempting to upgrade. (This bug has been fixed internally and the fix will be included in the next Airlock release.)

chris (unverified): The "Bluetooth is disabled" dialog that's appearing is caused by the Bluetooth firmware issues that have been affecting many users. Please see my comments in my other posts regarding these issues.

As always, if you'd like a refund please don't hesitate to ask.

demo did not work with my iPhone 4.2.1, found this article on an easy to use website, and downloaded the 'fix" this application now works perfect with my iphone. (even without restarting any devices!)

My question is, if I buy this now, will this version be the stable (paid) version, or will it have to update to the official version on the site.

    ?

    thanks

I've tested this on a 2007 MBP (just before uni-body) running 10.6.6 and iOS 4.3b3. iPhone 4 shows up and runs fine. Also connects with iPad running 4.3b3.

I'd suggest leaving the restriction code out so people who don't have iPhones (or wish to use something other than an iPhone) can still use it.

This iPhone 4 version picks up my phone, and works until I go out of range, then never appears again.

I'm glad I didn't impulse buy, but looks like it would be very nice once it's updated properly.
